The Everyday Project: Day 4

I cannot take credit for this photograph. My brother-in-law Vern took this shot last spring when he was living with me and my family. He was going through a rough patch and just needed some stability. He stayed with us for a few weeks and tried to collect himself and organize his life. He borrowed my camera and came back with this 'accidental shot'. I did a little bit of editing to just clean it up for him.

Not long after he took these, he moved back to his house to try to face his problems. He tried to pay off debt and clean up his lifestyle. From the outside he seemed to working really hard to better himself. None of us really knew how bad it was.

In August of 2012 he committed suicide. My boys lost thier Uncle Vern. My brothers lost a brother. My husband lost his best friend and the the only person who has always been there for his entire life.

I know this is my photography page but I felt like I needed to share his photo. He was such an artist. He loved to paint and draw. He was pretty much only happy when he was outside with Onyx, his black lab. He was an amazing individual and we miss him dearly. Not a day goes by when I don't think about him. I hear is laugh in my head. My oldest even has a 'Vern Ear' that sticks out farther then the other. ;-) I will not forget what an impact he had in our lives.
